Thank you letter – Mainframe Migration

All,

With the NDC to MDC Mainframe Migration coming to a close I would like to take a moment to give special recognition to those of you who have played important roles in this critical CSC Internal project. For many of us the migration of AE on the 25th of August signaled the grand finale of a long year of hard work. I am personally grateful for the dedication each of you put into this project. Thank you very much for your support and I look forward to working with many of you again soon! (Please forgive me if I left a name out, this is a very big list!)

Critical Technical Players – These individuals worked countless hours in roles where any single failure would have meant certain project delay. These people took extraordinary challenges and performed above and beyond all expectations. Through their success this project was able to make significant architectural re-designs, remove outdated hardware, perform necessary upgrades and migrate corporate critical mainframes on an aggressive schedule.

Mack Harris – MCS Lead – Mack served as the project leader for all technical aspects of this project. Any problems or issues handed to Mack were neutralized by his Mainframe Expertise. Mack created all Hr x Hr’s and through his mastery of migration strategy we were able to find solutions to all migration requirements. Mack commanded a very large team of experts towards success throughout the entire span of this project and deserves special recognition on his role on this project.

Rebecca Bullock – ETS Application Lead – Rebecca performed multiple roles exceptionally. She served as both the ETS Mainframe application & MCS SME as well as the technical liaison to the client. We were able to overcome many challenges by benefiting from her established relationship with the client. Rebecca deserves special recognition on her role on this project.

Gail Amey – DuPont Application Lead – Gail served as the focal point for DuPont communications and application issues. Gail managed an extremely large number of application owners to success. Her DuPont Mainframe application expertise allowed us to overcome many challenges over the course of the migration. During the final migration of the AE Mainframe Gail was able to counterbalance client fears of a potentially “No Go” causing issue with her knowledge of the applications and of the environment. Gail deserves special recognition on her role on this project.

John Forrest – Mainframe Network Lead – John worked countless hours making necessary hardware changes required by the migration. He performed the CIP to OSA migration, 3745 reduction and installed and configured DEC Gateways even when he held limited knowledge of the outdated equipment. John also deserves recognition for showing up for migrations even when he was ill. John deserves special recognition on his role on this project.

Neil Swanson & Lee LaFountain – MNS Leads – Throughout the span of this project Lee and Neil passed the baton from one to the other as availability changed. Lee successfully redesigned the network solution for both ETS and DuPont. Lee also successfully lead the network team during the final DuPont AE Mainframe Migration. Neil Swanson implemented the Network Solution designed by Lee. Neil also worked countless hours resolving Network issues on the ETS, DuPont NIB and DuPont AW mainframe migrations. Lee and Neil deserve very special recognition

Jeff Mitchell, Manny Duraes & Robyn Bernard – Storage Leads – Jeff worked as a team lead with Manny and Robyn to successfully migrate all data from the NDC to the MDC. On the ETS migration Robyn was the primary storage lead. On the DuPont migration Manny was the primary storage lead. Jeff and Manny also performed tape migrations and hardware conversions. Jeff, Manny and Robyn worked multiple nights and weekends to lead us to project success. Jeff Manny and Robyn deserve very special recognition.

Scott Hodukavich & Aileen Murray – MCS Lead Technicians – Scott and Aileen worked together as a team with Mack to make all mainframe changes and deal with any issues throughout the entire course of this project. Scott & Aileen deserve very special recognition.
