Haven’t written anything IT related in the last month. I have a few thoughts on the Google Android operation system and my G1 running it. It’s late so I will just write a list of pro’s & con’s to get my thoughts on paper. This review is only of my experience using the G1 and the version of Android currently on it “Build number CRC1″.
Google’s initial entry into cell phone OS’s is a good start.
Pro’s
1. Large opening Marketplace. Although I have not seen too many breaking apps lately. Keep them coming!
2. Updates are coming. (Although few and far between)
3. Google products work well. Google Maps has been updated multiple times in the last few months.
4. Google Voice = I like where this is going
Con’s
1. No Multi-touch (Although I believe it’s coming)
2. Multiple Crashes (on both applications and basic cell phone function)
3. Low battery life (This is a huge issue if you want to actually “Use” all of the cool features Android offers.
4. Web browser is slow. Where are the google chrome speeds?
Android Market @ http://www.android.com/market/Con’s
1. No Search ?? You are a search company!
2. No Facebook App? m.facebook.com is weak. The best app IMO (FBook) was mysteriously removed from the Market.
I believe that the best is yet to come. The race is definitely on for Apple. HTC + Google are right behind!
